IMAGE SHACK now supports POP UPs

To All that use IMAGE SHACK to store your pics, please let me know if I am wrong.

I looked at a picture of WIP for the Queen Mary in SH3, now IMAGE SHACK has always irrated me by replacing my Forum page with some ad and a small POP UP. When I close all the Ad's, I find I now have to log back into SubSim.

Now it seem's IMAGE SHACK has gone way over board. I looked 1 picture of the Queen Mary and now my system is now Non-Stop blocking POP-UP's.

If you guys insists posting links to IMAGE SHACK for your pick, I will have to stop viewing them unless someone can convince me, this rapid POP UP problem is not related to IMAGE SHACK.

I think I blocked well over 100 POP UP's from the time I looked at the pick and posted this. I think in about 5 Mins.

I had to Re-Boot to stop the POP-UP's.

Internet Exp 6.0.

I was getting the 1 POP UP as well before but this time even when I was able to get back to SubSim, it was almost non-stop. My POP UP blocker was going crazy.

Once I rebooted, all was fine.

Get FireFox
I use it and when using imageshack I only get 1 small pop up and nothing more.

Explorer is really open for pop ups and lets them go throught and easily infected with malware.

That's why I use POP UP Blockers.

As I stated, my POP UP Blocker went crazy when I looked at the 1st link to a Queen Mary pic that was for a SH3 Mod.

The site was IMAGE SHACK.

My browser is not the problem, those rapid POP UPs were.

I've just tried all the links for the RMS Queen Mary and I didn't get a single popup.

You might try running a crap cleaner to get rid of all your cookies etc. You've probably got an adlink cookie or similar on your system which is causing the problems.

then I guess your computer is infested with spyware, ad-aware or something similar.

mostly they cause certain pages to create pop ups at the sudden.

I think its time to scan your computer with a good spy/ad ware scanner
delete cookies&temporarly internet files

as I visit imageshack.us
no pop ups appear
when I watch a picture hosted on imageshack.us
no pop ups appear
when I upload a picture myself
No pup ups appear

Geforce TN 64

windows XP pro

I use IE7 with Google Toolbar(has a Pop-up blocker) and I never get any pops, like others said probably spyware.

Then it must have been some weird anomaly because I had no POP UPs prior to opening the link and none after rebooting.

I have 3 POP UP Blockers on my system to also include Google's. The count is 377 Blocked.

If it were Spy-ware, then every time I access the web to surf, I should have the same problem. I ran my Spy-ware detection software and it found no form of Spy-ware. My system appears to be clean.
:hmm:

Good to hear some folks are not getting pop-ups, that sucks.

I've been using ImageShack for a couple years now. I haven't had a single pop-up from them ever. My main browser is Firefox, but I have used IE6 with it before, too. I don't use any third-party toolbars or pop-up blockers, either.

no popups using firefox 2.0 for me

besides my trusted antivirus and ccleaner i have no other anti-spy or popup-blocker running. i guess i know my way around and catch anything spyware- or adware-like by myself. as for the rest:

i HIGHLY recommend two very handy firefox plugins: AdBlock Plus and NoScript

NoScript might take some getting used to, but it's definitely worth it. I can't remember how many times it saved me from some malfunctioning or malicious code on a website...

yup NoScript does the job, just remember to turn it off for your favourite sites/banking payment/purchasing stuff online pages etc.
