Hi all
I took the liberty of building a mission in the editor where i placed 6 ships of the Nagara Maru class (Large Composite Superstr. Freighter) with as close as possible to 1000 yards differences. first one was at 1000 yards, next at 2000 yards etc etc. I HAVE INSTALLED THE MOD WITH NEW MASTHEIGHTS !!!! It was not possible to place them Totally correct due to the editors lack of imperial measures. ![]() So what units are then shown in the TDC when we take a steadimeter range and update it??? To me it looks like meters, but as can be seen then the difference is enlarged with increased range. Its actualy so steady, so you can say that for every 1000 meters you add another 0.01 to the multiplyer. eg. at 2000 meters the multiplyer should be 1.02 at 6000 meters its 1.06 etc etc. - SO when ever taking a steadimeter range or a sonar range you have to multiply with the multiplyer to get correct range to plot from. I do belive though, that the range you transfer via steadimeter is ok to shoot from. ![]() I took radar ranges to targets 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. As you can see the radar is greatly inaccurate - witch is not totally wrong given historical data.... but 2300 yards off at 4.5 nm.....hmmmm:hmm: - it need to be said, that its with great difficulty to read correct range on the scales even with pause and a liner along the peak to intercept the scale. I allso took the WO's range to nearest visual contact on targets 2-5. Compared to calculated ranges (editor meters * 3.28) the visual ranges is not too shabby and it appears they have the convertion spot on with that ![]() If anyone is interested in testing them selfs (with meter measurements fx. !) then the mission is uploaded to my filefront space. just extract it to Data/Single Patrols http://files.filefront.com/WP06___Di.../fileinfo.html So all in all Sonar and Steadimeter Distance is in METERS and you need to Convert that manualy to yards for plotting with a multiplyer that grows with distance at a rate of 0.01 pr. 1000 meters and then to nm. Visual distance in ft. are spot on and can be plottet right away.....:hmm: AFTER converting the ft. to nm...... ![]() |

Yes, stadimeter and sonar distances are in meters even if you have Imperial turned on.
It's unfortunate but hopefully they fix it next time around.
