Default SH3 gonna be updated?

i havent bought SH4 yet as im waitin to see if it receives more patches but no doubt i will eventually. does anyone know if the devs would ever consider releasing an update/expansion for SH3 which would finally squash the last of the bugs and add some of the features from SH4?

i know if the content was good id buy it

1.4 was the last patch for SH3 and there are no other plans to update it AFAIK. There is another update planned from the GWX team however, should be out sooner then later.

I would be extremely surprised if Ubi released anything of the sort for SH3. Especially since they've stopped supporting it with patches. They've probably got their hands full working out what to do with SH4.

I keep hoping (and I've said it many times) that once SH4 is finalized the technology will be applied to an upgraded SH3. We're probably talking new game for sale, not free patches, but I'll take what I can get.

If anything like this happens - expect to see a "bundled" package of SH3 and SH4 combined - in something like a "WW2 Patrol Pack" or some such marketing scheme. If so, then they might just tweak or overlay the sh4 graphic engine on sh3 - but that would be the only "upgrade" you could reasonably expect to see.

Sounds like SH5 to me.

To be honest I hope that once they're done patching SH4 they'll focus on re-writing the engine and start building Silent Hunter 5 from from scratch. In an ideal world it would include both the Pacific and Atlantic campaigns.

I seriously doubt we will see an sh5. SH4 was not the critical success that 3 was, plus it seems you read as many bad things about the game as good things these days. And when you have hard-core subsimmers here that won't touch 4 with a ten foot pole...I get the feeling we are at the end of the SH line.
