Hi,

Last week I was stuck without being able to finish off a torpedoed, listing merchant that was part of a convoy and keeping up with them. There were 4 hevily armed escorts trying to send me to Davy Jones Locker. Well after trying everything unsuccessfully, I decided to surface behind the convoy and try an end around. Well, apparently the escorts were aware of my intentions, as all four destroyers came to meet me. Out of ideas, I decided to use my maneuverability and my deck gun to shoot their weapons. After about 30 mins dancing around each other and me shooting off their gun batteries, I finally left them offenseless (not defenseless, as they still tried to ram me later.) Then I proceeded back to the convoy and finished about 4 ships with the deck gun, including the listing merchant I had shot with torpedoes. Even so, there were 1 or 2 merchants with small guns that gave me some hell, but I also shot their weapons off and sunk them. As I said before the weaponless destroyers were hardly defenseless, as they tried to ram me numerous times.

This is just a suggestion, as after the engagement every time I tried to submerge, the boat would sink without explanation, until I found out I had an inmense hole in the aft torpedo room.

Well, after half the japanase naval air force tried to sink me, I finally made it to Midway and eventualy to Pearl.

So, once again, if your out of ideas and don't mind your paint scratched, you can try this. I got the Medal of Valor for this, but I was reassignd from my destroyed Gar-class to a smaller P-class.

If anyone else tries something like this write about it, so we can get more ideas...
