Get Ducimus' "Flavored To Taste 2.4" mod. It will add a weather report icon to the icon panel.
If you don't want that, you can edit Commands.cfg and assign a keystroke to the weather report command to access it with the keyboard. The code you're looking for is: [Cmd261] Name=Report_weather Ctxt=1 MnID=0x3F250006 Change it to something like: [Cmd261] Name=Report_weather Ctxt=1 MnID=0x3F250006 Key0=0x57,c,"CTRL W" to enable weather report on a key. My example will put it on "Ctrl-W". Of course if you want it on a different key, change the Key0= line with the appropriate hex code and modifier. |

No prob
![]() There are all kinds of unused commands in Commands.cfg, you might want to look thru it and see what commands you'd like to add. Just enter a "key0=" line with the appropriate key, and it's yours! Be careful though, not to use a key already assigned to another command or you'll get undesired results... DH |

So let me get this straight, the coding is there for a weather report but wasn't utilized for the basic game??
How about the the sunrise and sunset times?? I found that info to be extremely valuable in SH1. In fact I was just about to start a thread on the topic, but this will do. ![]() Maybe that'll be an extra gimme in the next patch. <holding my breath!> ![]()

Sunrise and sunset has been discussed ad-infinitum even before SH4 came out.
Do a search and you'll see. It's prob not going to happen. I just make a note of the times I visually see them happen and plan my submerges and surfaces to be about an hour before/after. No big deal. |

When you have your watch set to Hawaii time, and if you then travel to Japan (or Beijing) the sun will rise at around 11am Hawaii time. The game's chronometers are all set to the port you sail from.

Popeye, far as I can tell, the time shown is the time at your home port. In other words, as you cross time zones your boat's clock is not updated to the new time zone. So the farther west you go, the later the sun rises (and the later it sets) as far as your clock is concerned.
It's no big deal really to tell when sunrise and sunset is, if nothing is happening I go to map view and run up the TC. Say it's night - the instant the map changes from "night" mode to "day" mode I go back to 1x TC and have a look. Well guess what, the sun is just starting to peek over the horizon. Same during the day - when the map changes from "day" to "night" mode, well the sun is just starting to set. Of course if stuff is happening and I'm running at 1x TC it's easy enough to see for myself (from bridge or periscope) if the sun is rising or setting! Regarding weather report, like -Pv- said, the devs could have left it out completely. Just be glad it's there. And it's really not much harder to implement than clicking on the button that really should (but isn't) there ![]() DH |

3033 is correct. If you hold your mouse over the time in the lower right, you will see the words "base time." This is no different than SH3 which was also a fixed time of GMT with no zone compensation. Where I live, the sun is going down @ 04:00 GMT. For those based in far east ports, the time difference is a lot less for them than for us Pearl folks, but they also get kicked out of their bases early in the war. I also use 3033's same suggestion to mentally or on a bit of paper "mark" the time I see the map color change while time surfing. I use that to judge when I should be hiding and attacking in enemy controlled water. Historically, dusk and dawn (the two hours around those times) are the most ideal for subs, but I don't let that keep me from attacking at all hours if other conditions are favorable (weather, no escorts, few planes spotted recently, strong battery, etc.) -Pv- |
