[REQ] Deck Gun use in heavy weather?

Tonight I was surprised to see I was able to man my deck gun in very heavy seas, even though at times the gun was completely submerged (and was able to be fired while underwater ). Is there a mod out there, or is anyone interested in, restricting the use of the deck gun in rough seas?

Open your NSS sub config file and put this in for the weather entry

StormConditions=7,0.1;max wind speed [m/s], max rain intensity [0,1]

You shouldn't be able to fire you gun in anything over 7m/s winds. That's how it was in SH3 I think....

Same here. In heavy storms my crew refuses to go outside and fire the gun. They leave it up to me to do the firing. Can't blame them really and must say it's rather refreshing to stand out there with waves rolling over you. Have had quite some storms, but have not experienced a storm where I couldn't fire the gun in person.

Fascinating. So it won't let the crew man the gun, but the CO can walk outside and jump on it? Should say something like:

"Captain, that's madness! Your insane to man the Gun in this storm. Your relieved of duty!" >>End of Career >> Load save

Tried that one to. Been at the deck gun in person and suddenly forced down to the Control room...click click on the gun icon, back on deck...swinging the gun around...almost there, almost THERE!....back to the CR...DIVE DIVE!!! on to another target, another day...

:rotfl:

So, now I see how it works. From now on, if my crew cannot man the guns, then I personally will not take charge of the gun myself. That's really silly how that works, but oh well...

Ma-a-aybe it's a bug.

It also told me the deck gun couldn't be manned due to heavy seas - while it was manned and busy sinking a Japanese merchant.:p
