Anyone on how to fix RADAR?

People have been saying it only works when the sub is heading 270 to 90 degrees, and I have the same experience.

So two major sub systems, the radar and TDC only work half the time. I hear the TDC is ok after patching to 1.2.

But this radar thing is annoying me. Why would the subs heading have any effect at all? Any modders out there know how to fix it?

Its a pretty major break, since the radar was so instrumental in US subs gaining an advantage over the enemy who did not have it until much later. I'm not saying the game is "broken"...but this is a pretty major annoyance unless I'm playing just early war subs. Maybe we can "Tack" and use the radar that way...
