Default Aircraft from hell

Wow I heard people complain but I didn't have too much of a problem till now on my new patrol in june 42. I started from Brisbane, am trying to patrol around Solomon and I just spent way too much time diving from aircraft. I stayed under all day and decided to keep the scope down so the aircraft would stop bringing down my TC. After so many in game hours I am annoyed. It starts getting dark and I figure it's dark enough to avoid aircraft so I surface to speed up and cover some ground (er water) during the night. Before I completely surface I hear, "ZOMG! AIRCRAFT SPOTTED!!!11!!1" I hit C, I save and exit the game.

It was so ridiculous all through the trip in the Coral sea there were Japanese aircraft coming from every direction. Seriously, North, South, East and West. Ridiculous.

Are there any mods that change this? Is this sort of thing a bug to be fixed or is the game intended to be this way?

ps. kinda funny, one of those planes damaged my boat some and ever since in that patrol my guys just keep yelling in a frightened tone. He's still freaking out and yelling everything at me, "YES SIR AHEAD SLOW!!!!" "DEPTH UNDER KEEL IS 422!!!!" etc.
