Default (REQ) End of Patrol messages from US Navy Chiefs of Staff

Is there any way that your carrer or mission results can be linked to actual results. It is extremely annoying to be assigned a particular search area or task.

On the way you expend all your torps, lets say by sinking the entire Japanese Navy so you return home expecting a heros welcome, instead you get some lame message telling you got the boot for not reaching your assigned patrol area!!!

I cant believe the US navy would expect you to travel 1000s of miles after expending your torps and sinking the enemy so you can patrol an area for an unspecified length of time only to dump you for returning early!

Can Patrol results be a tad more realistic?

I agree! This comes into play for me when I base out of Freemantle. Since I'm navigating through so much enemy populated landmasses, I usually expend all my torpedoes before getting to my objective. Seems sort of silly to have to circle my objective for 48 hrs with no torpedo load. I think a fix could be more aggressive, realistic escort coverage and more realistic traffic lanes. Sort of 'tone down' success!

Though, I wonder if the Dev's made aircraft so numerous to negate such successful missions?

Umm...isn't the point of patrol orders, that you go to that patrol area before engaging targets?

I mean, I'm sure we've all shot a torpedo or two at REALLY tempting targets on the way...but...seriously, if the USN is ordering you to go to a grid and patrol it, they are expecting you to...ya know...go to that grid and patrol it. For all you know, navy planning involves shipping out of that grid being harassed or stopped altogether, and by you not doing that, you are impairing the flow of the war.

RP a little here, folks. Orders are orders - once you have executed them, THEN you can go do what you want.

Makes perfect sense if you recieved an ULTRA message, but I completly disagree with bypassing choice targets before you get to your assigned area. There are references to numerous to count that show sub skippers, both fleet and uboat, who engage ships way before ever reaching their assigned area. Thats the whole point to sub warfare! I believe the 'patrol area for set hours' is a gameplay feature...

That's all true as long as at the end of the day the primary objective is achieved. So if all torps are expended on your way to the assigned area, just go back and refit and go out again

Right! Until this issue can be looked at, I'm afraid you have to get to the patrol area to be a success and refit may be the only option. Not a very realistic option mind you, but a fun one!

Yes, not realistic at all. It reminds me of SH2 where you had to reach your objective and had to sink a certain amount of tonnage for the objective/s to be completed.

What should be included in the patch is the option to end a mission. I don't mind losing some renown for it.

I'll buy that!

Sometimes patrols take forever. Thank god for my alarm clock... I mean my wife!
