How many of you actually served ON a sub?

Hello sub pimps and pimpettes,

I've been in the Atlantic.......and I've thought about you, hence this post.

Question:
How many of you actually served on a sub? Ever, WWII, Korea, Cold war, Vietnam,
(modern) Nuclear sub?

I ask because most posters on this and the SH4 threads seem to know their s**t when speaking of sub tech. or strategic/operational/logistical matters.

I, am ex-Army, a combat signaller to be exact.
(sorry if I didn't spell "signaller" right)
I was offered to join Spec. Forces and was offered to be a 96B (intel. analyst) but refused both offers.
Discharged as an E-4 (Specialist in Armyspeak).

I now drift into the dark deep of the Atlantic again.............hellas1

Well though i have been on many subs, never served on one. My Dad worked for Electric Boat for a while and designed many of the Life-Safety equipment that r in many modern subs.

He was telling me how he was boarind a US Nuclear Sub at a port in Spain to talk to the Captain and the only ID they required was his Social Security Card. I thought that was a really weird ID u needed to get in to a sub, since ur SSN card is like the easiest form of ID to make.

Never served on a sub, but when I was in high school our Naval Junior ROTC unit took a trip to Jacksonville, FL and Kings Bay, GA. At Kings Bay we got to take a tour of the USS Kentucky SSBN-737.

Already had a bit of a love for subs/U-boats back then before that trip, but that trip definitely fueled that love a lot more.
