Default Performance tip that really helped my frame rate:

I noticed that my frame rate tanks when the "action camera" ( or "picture in picture view" or whatever they call it in game) pops up on screen. Frame rate never falters below 60fps until this thing appears and then it drops to about 20fps, makes mouse movement sluggish, the works. Disabling this in the game options fixed her right up.

Full graphical details maxed.

Specs:

Intel Core2 Duo 6400
ATI Radeon X1950XTX 512MB
1GB RAM

Doh... That's sort of logical that framerate would drop when you have to render 2 scenes (where the 2nd one have the explosions and all kind of effects) instead of just 1...

Yeah I know it's logical, but considering how small the window is (and how low rez it is) I didn't think it would have the impact it does. It's basically more than halving my frame rate.

Not a big fan of this either, in heavy action it pops up to much

Yeah, it sort of caught me off-guard at first since I had no problem with it in SH3. But with all the new eye candy in SH4 it really adds up, so I disabled mine, too.

Plus with the free cam, panning to contacts, etc, you can do pretty much the same stuff without the hassle
