Default Holed and Still Truckin'

Check this out. The aftermath of a running gun battle with 3 Jap DD's that caught me on the surface at night making a run on a large convoy.

Big ole hole in the starboard side hull and three more just like it on the port and still the Gunnell is doing 13Kts. DC Team reported pressure hull intact. Decided against diving regardless of what those weenies said because I play Iron Man Style. Made it back to Midway (on the surface all the way with the AA gun constantly manned) just barely, leaking fuel all the way. Refit at Midway and did a check to see if the holes had been repaired. Nope.

l shift-F2'd and went inside the hole. Wooden bulkheads both ends, hanging metal and broken stuff.

It's a bit unfortunate the shell damage visuals for all ships are the same. They look great on surface ships, but subs... ehhh

One of the items listed in 1.2's changelog is "improved submarines damage model." I'm pretty sure this is in reference to hard data, but you never know -- perhaps they tweaked the damage textures too.

Glass half full outlook.
