[REQ] Extended career Mod

I think a constant source of frustration to many forum members is the forced retirement issue after 5 or 6 patrols. Although this is historically accurate, if it was possible to have a career model similar to SH3, I think a lot of people would like that option.

Is such a mod even possible?

It was supposed to be, along with 'realistic sinking times'. I don't know why they were removed.

I've been beating this dead horse for a week, and came to the conclusion that we
can't mod this on our end.
I've manipulated and edited the careertrack files in every way you can imagine, all
to no real effect.
The career track system is hardcoded into the sims .exe so Im thinking it will
take a talented hex editor and/or the devs to change it.
But who knows, maybe something will come up, as the man says "Never give up, never surrender"

So I'm guessing nobody has come up with a working fix for forced retirement yet? Or have I just not seen it? I'm looking for a standalone mod mostly.

Don't take the upgrades when they are offered to you. That is the cause of the retirement. There is no "forced retirement" as originally thought. It's just an error in the game that they offer you the class of sub before it was "built."

Hmm. Okay. I'm confused.

So as long as you don't upgrade your sub to one that is offered before it's supposed to be, you won't get retired? You can just keep patrolling, no matter how good you do?

I thought that was two seperate issues.

Max TK solved this, it just requires text editing, PM him and let someone make a program or mod based on his intelligence....
He is running 40+ missions in single campaign and all of his crews are veterans...
