Campaign battles

From what i've read and understand, during the campaign you can travel to midway, the coral sea, samar or where ever at the time of the battle, and take part. But travelling around the battles at the time, there is nothing

, i've tried so many times, but there is abslutly nothing, the closet i got was a small enemy task force, days away from midway, is it actually possible? has anyone managed to take part???

still, im enjoying the game, but where do you other captains find all the big warships? i travel into ports and around Japenese highways, but only find DD or Merchents
