When Command tells you that you're earned the right to a new boat, does the game really not tell you what type of boat you'll receive? If so, sounds like a good idea for a patch, to show the boat type you'll receive and some info about it, as well as comparisons on speed, range, diving speed, torpedo load-out, and so on.

The game really doesn't tell you what you have the opportunity to get. I started a career in 1941, and when I came into port after my third patrol (late June '42) I got the opportunity for a new boat. I figured it would be a Gato; I was correct in that, but it could have been something else I suppose. It would have sucked if I'd gotten a Porpoise or some such as a trade down from my Tambor.

I don't quite see why it'd 'suck'. I'd love to take a new boat any day, even if it has 1 torpedo tube. Because it keeps things varied :p

Oh, and be happy we don't play for the IJN. If they don't like your career there, they transfer you to command a Kaiten
