I'm running SH4 on a MacBook Pro (in BootCamp) with 2.33 GHz Core 2, 3GB of RAM, and a 256MB ATI X1600 on XP SP2.

I can't run it with full detail, Medium is the highest I can go for a decent framerate when on the bridge and looking around...

I'm running SH4 on a Dell XPS M1710 laptop -2 GHZ Core 2 Duo, GeForce Go7950 GTX 512mb, 2GB ram, Vista Business. I can run the game with everything maxed out with no problems. I did have to turn Environmental Effects off, but will have it back on once Ubi fixes the EE Monolith of FPS death bug.

Runs fine for me...

I am running SH4 1.1 on a Dell Precision Workstation M65 laptop, 1.8GHz Core Duo, 2GB RAM, 256MB nVidia Quadro graphics card. I have the game running on 1920x1200 resolution. I have all the fog and reflection effects turned off and the game runs really well. I also have the ship damage, and particle effects on full.

What's the point of running all the 'special' effects when you spend 90% of the time either underwater or on the Map screen in Time Compression mode? Also, you don't benefit from the nice effects when you also have the Event Camera and External Camera turned off.

Fujitsu N3530 with 2 gig RAM, 1.83 core duo processor, X1400 Mobility Radeon. So far I am not having much trouble running the game.

That is awesome. I would definitely be up for purchasing that. It would be perfect for home use. Thanks for the info.

Kind of related....

My work laptop doesn't have the guts to run SH4 , so I installed SH3 on it. Its a Lenovo T60. How do you Zoom the periscope, deck gun etc without a mousewheel? I tried changing the setting for the Ultranav to no avail, the middle button on this laptop cannot be setup as a mousewheel.

Interesting that my core duo dell inspiron actually loads the game faster than my pentium 4 desktoop (almost twice as fast) but it can't handle the game with environmental effects, etc.

- core duo 1.83 GHz, 2 gig, ATI X1400

Am running the game with almost full effects on my desktop and liking it, so all is good.

I think I will try as someone suggested here: go full realism on the laptop and turn off everything that you can't see when you're inside your sub anyway.

You can use the TAB key to zoom in/out or most laptops have a scroll bar on the side of the mouse pad, that's what I use.

Can you bind a key??

Clover,
Use SetKeys1.3 to do this; or turn on your keypad with the fn key+

Irish,

I am sorry to say that I do not understand the "fn key +" solution. Not sure if this is what your saying, but there is no Numerical Pad on my Dell E1705.

Thanks for your help,

P.S.--My surname is of Irish lineage.
