Default Diesel Engine Superchargers...when?

I looked at the Career Timeline out here:

http://www.communitymanuals.com/shii...areer_Timeline

However, I think they're off on when the Diesel Engine Superchargers become available. That site says Feb of '39 for the first and Jan of '39 for the second upgrade. I'm in Jan of '40 and they're not available (unless the VIIB has them built in?).

So I'm kind of wondering when exactly they'll be made available since I'm trying to time my return dates for patrols around new technology becoming available.

Well, kinda answered my own question after my last patrol. Got back and in the U-boat menu under equipment I could upgrade to the first supercharger. That was Feb '40, but it wasn't there in Jan. So at least I know the date for the first one.

Second one no clue on yet still, I'm guessing Jan '41 or Jan of some other year since they got the month for the first one right, just not the year.

To tell you the truth, I always thought the first upgrade just 'wasted gas'. I prefer to wait until the last set comes out...that way you do not spend quite as much renoun overall.

PLUS, I prefer to upgrade less on the VIIB and wait until I get a VIIC and then upgrade that one to the hilt...a better boat and you have a whole lot more upgrades you can do in the long run...

Heh, considering for me this has been the farthest I've gotten (I play starting in Sep '39 and dead is dead), I went ahead and tossed the cash in. Especially since I'm doing kinda well this time around tonnage/money wise compared to normal as well. :P

One of these times I've gotta be not so hard on myself and start in a later time period.

Not quite. The Type II and Type VIIa didn't have superchargers. The Type VIIa's top speed was only about 16 knots.

Type VIIb on all had superchargers, but the top speed was the one the game uses without them. No Type VII u-boat ever went 19 knots (17.6 was the max) and no Type IX ever went 22 knots (18.9 was the max).

Supercharger upgrades are a cheat.
