Default Japanese Subs

I was on a recon mission to one of the Japanese Harbor on the mainland and spotted a Japanese sub moared to a pier, While I was torpodoing a docked heavy crusier, I let lose 3 Mk10 Torps out the aft at the Sub and all 3 hit, not sinking it! Anyone else run into this?

In another post someone had to take pictures of it and then they tried to torpedo it and it didn't sink either.

It figures, none of theirs sink ( or are hard to sink ) and ours sink if you just spit on the deck.

It seems like every Japanese harbor has a sub or two, but sadly you can't register sinking any of them.

Default Yes, you can sink them

I know this thread has been quiet for a little while ;-), but I just wanted to say that at least in my version (gold edition with u-boat missions, running both TMO and RSRD), you can indeed sink Japanese subs.

I was in late '42, off the southern coast of Japan, on my way to Korea, when I saw a Japanese sub:

It blew up real good, it turned out only 1 torp was needed, though I sent 3:

here it is on its way to the bottom, the hole my torp blew in it is by the cursor:

I found and sunk one a couple weeks ago, just outside of Balikpapan in February, 1942. One torpedo sent it to the bottom. My crew called out "She's going down, sir!" and I watched it disappear. A red "sunken ship" label showed up on the map, but when I exited the game it only gave me credit for the tonnage, but not a warship kill.

I still added a Rising Sun flag to my sail, though!

Sometimes you don't get credit for sinking in-port ships because they hit bottom without going completely under.

If you are playing stock, it is a Sen Toku and it is just as described, decoration. But some of the MODs add sinkable subs.

I know TMO1.9 added it, I just haven't found it yet, although I've killed the German sub several times...I don't think they fight back in anyway. I know they don't with torps, but I don't think they even man the deckgun...just a very easy kill, but sure is fun.

Had the jap sub tied up at the pier. No joy.

Now wondering if it just sits very high.

I don't know about the TMO subs but the ones I made shoot deckguns.
