Sinking with no damage ????

I was on return route from a succesfull patrol and had taken no damage at all ... when all the sudden all my crew was sleeping and my boat sank like a stone

... absolutely nothing could prevent the sinking ... tried and reload my save file ... but i sank at the exact same spot with no warning at all ????? .... so ending the patrol is now impossible

... have anyone else experienced a similar prob ? sinking out of nothing
