Default timezones in SHIV

I examined straight the timezones in SHIV.

I started a career in Pearl on Dez. 11. 1941 and related to these data

http://aa.usno.navy.mil/cgi-bin/aa_pap.pl

- sunrise should be at 07:00am, in SHIV the sunrise is at 06:00am
- sunset should be at 05:51pm, in SHIV the sunset is at 04:51pm
game time is exact 1 hour to early!!!

then I set a course to Tokyo Bay

behind the Midway islands there should be the date line, but it is not implemented in SHIV

arrived at the Tokyo Bay I investigate again the sunrise/sunset

data for Dez. 22. 1941
http://aa.usno.navy.mil/cgi-bin/aa_pap.pl

- sunrise should be at 06:46am, in SHIV the sunrise is at 10:46am
- sunset should be at 04:28pm, in SHIV the sunset is at 08:28pm

the onboard time is still
Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time in this career scenario, therefore I and some others think it was a bug, if the sun rise at noon time. We have ignored the different timezones:hmm:

Perhaps you have to compensate for the fact is was in the 1940's. The earth turned faster then...

upps, the data links are broken

but on the website of the U.S. Naval Observatory you can enter a location and date to get the sunrise/sunset data of that location

input form:
http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneDay.html

for Pearl Harbor I use Pearl City on Hawaii in Form A on Dez. 11. 1941
and for Tokyo Form B with coordinates:
35,68° N, 139,76° O on Dez. 22. 1941

Yeah i have to admit the time is screwy alittle ....especially on my first mission I'm going to be dropping an agent inside Tokyo Bay.....Was expecting a sunrise about 0730.....And the sun came up at 1030ish hours....

Maybe we need a clock that can be adjusted to "Local Time".....

On an SH4 patrol from Pearl to Japan I noticed that my local time never changed from Pearl Harbor time even tho I was several time zones away.

It's inconvenient, but since local time works just fine in SH3, I'm hopeful (being an optimistic person ) that correct local time is an easy bugfix that we will see in a patch.

In SH3 times ware displayed for BOTH the port where you left AND local time. In SH4 we only have departure time zone displayed.

Maybe someone can make a mod to display both local and Pearl Harbor time?

Yes, but when they dived they lower the center of gravity so earth spins faster!
