Default Fps too low or normal?

Well ,i've a 7800gtx 2gb of ram and amd athlon 4000+ and when i run the game with environmental effects on my fps seems really low(between 21 and 30 on external view depending on the weather).Below each time i set up an attack it'll drop way lower at times during the battle when ships are close to me(drop of 5 and not long but in each battles sometimes 10-15 fps)=(this last drop may be due to the "monolith" bug). When i leave pearl harbor i've got about 23 fps(external)
I could play without this effect and everithing would be smooth an all all times but i really like the pictures much better with it so i'll just avoid it if no other way
I've read all threads about settings but i d't know much about more recent graphic cards and processors so i've got a hard time to compare.
also i play with v-synch(ini tweak) and 1280x1024 resolution.
Could someone who knows pc configs better or with equal config tells me if these are ok fps with my rigs and wht to try if not?
Thx all and forgive my english

I have pretty much the same rig as you have.
Everything ON in the graphics, 1280x1024-70hz
I have about 40fps when I´m on the bridge.
What I´ve done is that I´ve change the AA and Anisotrophic settings in windows to "programcontrolled". I think that has helped ME a bit......
Try it out!

i try i try ... but it still d't give me satisfaction.
Could you make a test to help me if it's not 2 much asking?
If you start a new campain in Pearl Harbor and take your fps on bridge with high settings wht are your fps? And you said 40 fps but in sun and no fog or tempest changes the framerate by far.Plse tell me at wht resolution you play also.
It'll be cool if you can do tht to help

Default diagnose graphic card problems for SH4

With the 7800 GTX and 2 GB of RAM, you should be experiencing higher frame rates for sure. (NOTE: *Except* when in friendly ports, where the CPU and GPU processing for all gamers drops quite low.)

I have the 7900 GT 256MB, very comparable in performance to the 7800 GTX, and I never experience the slowdowns you have mentioned (except for friendly ports).

In particular, is the clue you gave that in nearby close attack, the FPS drops very low. That should definitely not be happening on the 7800 GTX with this game.

Please visit my computer help forums (it's free) and I'll march you through some diagnostics on your graphics card to determine what the problem is here. (Since I also play the SH4 game obsessively, I know details on both hardware and software ends.)

Please post the nVidia driver version you are currently using, here.
