[REL] Das Boot Moments mod

**Released!!**

Das Boot Moments v1.0 mod for use with SH4 v1.1

modded by Nvdrifter
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The goal of this mod is to hopefully make SH4 more challenging, nailbiting and just plain fun.

Main features of Das Boot Moments v1.0 mod includes:

a) Less submarine crew compartment deaths below deck, and greatly increased chance of crew deaths on top deck-

Your crew will now be less likely to die inside compartment due to depth charges or bombs. But the are now at great risk while in open compartments.

b) Slower submarine compartment flooding times-

Your damaged compartments will now flood slower than vanilla SH4. About 10x slower now.

c) Less submarine instant death (game over) screens from 0% Hull Integrity-

I am trying to lessen the instant death screens due to hull integrity reaching zero percent (due to depth charges, enemy shells and bombs). What I have done is greatly increased all submarine hitpoints and gave each compartment it's own armor rating (no more dependence on hull integrity). Now there is less relevance of hull integrity, except when diving past crush depth. All sub crush speeds were greatly increased to make up for the increased sub hitpoints. You won't have much time to live once hull failure begins (when going past crush depth). Internal and external sub equipment will still be damaged normally because hull armor ratings were not increased.

**Don't think you can drive around on the surface and take no damage from ship guns because of large hull hitpoints. Your sub's equipment will still get destroyed quickly by doing this.**

d) Lessened most equipment armor and increased hitpoints-

Lessened most equipment armor and increased hitpoints, but the following equipment was greatly strengthened for playability reasons:

-diesel engine and electric motor hitpoints and armor ratings

-fuel tank hitpoints and armor ratings

-battery hitpoints and armor ratings

-sub compartment hitpoints

e) Depth Charge Shake v1.01 implemented-

Your compartment camera will now shake violently when being depth charged. For more info, please see the included Depth Charge Shake v1.01 readme file.

f) Less effective depth charges, more shaking-

Reduced damage blast radius of depth charges down to between 4 and 10 meters,
and doubled explosion impulse (shockwave) range to 80 meters. This will cause your boat to shake more but there is now less chance of taking damage unless the depth charges fall very close to your submarine.

**This is NOT a realism mod. It is a mod designed to prolong your death a little bit longer. To make you wonder if you can survive or not. To make you think... 'Will I run out of oxygen before I can stop flooding, finish repairs and surface?' It is a mod to enhance your gameplay. To hopefully make SH4 more fun. If you want absolute realism, please look elsewhere**

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am excited about this mod and have put a lot of time and effort into it. Hours of playtesting and tweaking, trying to get the right balance. This mod is based on my original LRT v1.32 SH3 mod. I hope everyone enjoys this mod as much as I have. I also wanna say a big thank you to everyone on the Subsim message board for their support, feedback, and great ideas. The awesome movie 'Das Boot' inspired me to make this mod. Hopefully, you too will experience your own Das Boot moments and live to tell about it.

Have fun and good luck!

First, I am always open to suggestions or ideas on ways to improve my mods. There is always room for improvement.

Second, please no complaints or criticism about realism regarding this mod. This isn't a realism mod. And I am not claiming it is. It's an overall package to try and enhance gameplay. If anyone here doesn't like this mod, please don't use it. Thanks for downloading.

Third, this will be my last SH4 mod release for a while. I am going back to SH3 until if and when SH4 is correctly patched. And of course, GWX SH3 still is and will always be my first love.

If there is at least one person here who enjoys using this mod, then I am happy. Mission accomplished.

NVDrifter .....Way to go on this mod.....
Can some one please tell me how I can merge THIS mod with the flavoured to taste mod....As I like things from both and I think there going to overlap/overwrite using JSGME....

Love your mods and the way you think NV ...Kudos in an early start to making the game barable as regards playability and enjoyment....Without it feeling like a Turkey Shoot...

I have the no conning tower damage mod to help with the game-ruining crewmember' die bug installed. Will your mod conflict with this? Thanks...

Just wanted to check - did you implement greater crush depths as well? (probably yes, but just want to make sure so I don't have to tweak around with them for my install again)

These three things for sure change the exact same files and will therefore overwrite each other:

- increased submarine comparment and equipment hitpoints, reducing the frequency of destroyed equipment.

- slightly increased crush depths.

- doubled crew hitpoints

I am planning on merging the Increased Crush Depths mod by CCIP with this mod.. making both compatible.

No, not yet. But I will. And of course I'll credit you for that feature.

Oh, and while you're at it - please include the battery life extension as well!
