How to lock on a ship?

I have zero realism set on (I'm still in the goofing around stage) and it does bother me, that I can't lock on a ship like in SH3.

I tried the "button" that turns red on the left slideout, but it doesn't seem to work. I would like it to track the ship during my manoever, but it doesn't and that annoys the hell out of me, trying to get my scope back on her.

Any ideas, is this even possible? I belive so, Neal did it on this video.

I believe that will not work... Sure way to miss!

I think you have to do both -> 'L' and the TDC tracking button on the left...
