Default Killing Ships.

Anyone want to share what they find is the best way to kill ships. This is what I noticed so far.

Torps set at Default (mag, imp) don't seem to explode before they hit.
Torps set to Just Imp seem to explode about 1/3 of the time, before they hit (bug shouldnt that be what a Mag torp should do?).

Torps at Default cause hardly any damage.
Torps at Imp if they make it seem to cause hardly any damage.

I don't fire less then 4 torps at ships now. 1 will always go off before, 3 might hit but won't phase the ship.

Late 42 and not getting any better.

Anyone try a Mag under the Keel yet? Damage? I can only sink maybe 3 ships with the current load of torps in my Gato Class. Its sad I know.:rotfl:

Default

I look at the draft of a ship and then change the depth of torp from the default setting to just 1meter off the draft, as in draft 7 I set my torp at 6. The damage I take it the same as in size of hole you knock in the ships, but flooding seems to be better and either slows them down or near dead in the water.

I was messing about in torp school and though I have not yet got the hang of manual targeting to take into my career, I use the lock method but still set the depth and use the angle of shot. I hit the ship in torp school with 1 torp starboard side near the bow. As it took on water its bow got lower and lower, until the forward drive after a while put her into a dive.

Now I don't know if the stats for the ships are the same in sub school as in the rest of the sim, they are the same types of ship in all parts of the sim. And like my career mode I am always set a 73% .. No manual targeting and I have the contacts on..

So what I found out about normal Lock shot 0-angle that usually hit midships, default torp depth, no real change in the ships movements, but when I did the same shot and change the torp depth to 1 meter off her draft, the ships was listing badly.

As I said , I don't know if they have made it easy to do this in sub school and the stats are different in the other parts of the sim, but I would go to torp school and mess about the changing depth of torps and angle.

I know that in career , I was using 3 to sink even 3,000tn ships, even within that tonnage they might have different sinkings modelled, but 1 shop 1 meter off her draft left her dead in the water. I marked her position and shadowed the convoy and then later when back and sunk her with my deck gun.
