Default Any way to adjust water transparency?

As above.

I was looking through the screenshot thread, and struck by how cool some of the shots were...and how much they could use some SLIGHTLY thicker water.

For example, this shot. WOW that's a cool effect. And WOW that's some transparent water. I think I've seen glasses of DISTILLED water that were not that crystal clear.

I know this could be changed in Sh3...what about 4?

Don't know anything about "fixing" it, but your sub will eventually disappear from view as it gets below PD...seems pretty realistic to me. It's even less visible in rough sees (if at all). In any case, tis beautiful water.

They should make it realistic.

North sea visibility 3-5m on average.

Coral sea, 50m or so

SH4 set in the pacific and a lot of it should be blessed with 30-50m visibility at least.

No idea what it is in the game though.

The water in a lot of the Pacific is extremely clear, and this is why in the early war sub doctrine was to fire based off of sonar observations. Submarines could be seen by air at periscope depth and were told to make attacks at depths of 100 feet.

This is something I believe the developers are spot on with.

And really, how can you argue with Sailor Steve?
