Hi, just recieved my collectors edition, installed the game, applied the patch then restarted computer, I didn't install DX9c as I already have this version (april 2006) however when I start SH4 I get this message:

Could someone tell me what gives please!

Perhaps try a re-install with the DX version supplied?

Yep, re-installing DirectX should do it.

I had the same problem. It loaded fine after I used the supplied DX version. Too bad I can only load the game and not really play it yet.

I should've just reinstalled DX in the first place but I always say "If it aint broke don't fix it!" but there ya go must have been someting different in my old version of dx90c to this new dx90c, why couldn't they just call it dx90d!
Thanks!

Yep, there was a DX9c update that I got when I installed my new graphics card. Had to go to a MS link to get it. It didn't say DX9d tho and now I wonder if there is a new DX called 9d or just the one with SH4. Strange.

The latest BUILD of DX is december 2006 i believe. Not April 2006.

There is a better way of dealing with this problem that I came up with. (and incedentally it comes up if you're using Vista with DX10 as well)

The workaround?

http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dl...shtml?d3dx9_32

Go there. Download the D3dx9.dll file and copy it into your Windows\System folder.

It will now work.

Here is another thing I am beginning to wonder about.

As I understand it the mod for SH# to allow different resolutions for SH3 did change some DX files. Could these changes perhaps be the reason that some people are having problems and others not?

I never used the mod myself, but it is worth considering.

The DX files for SH3 had to be copied into the SH3 dir, so they wouldn´t influence the main DX installation. Overwriting the original DX files in the Windows system directory with those file would´ve killed DX, no game would´ve worked after that.

Gotcha.

Always ask an expert.

Now it's time to fix the thread header.

Microsoft change their DX inside of a major version (DX9c) nearly every two month with minor upgrades.

the latest build of DirectX9c is Feb.2007
one can get it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

but SHIV uses the Dez.2006 Version
