Default Supply drops/agent insertions/pilot pickups

Can someone please give me a definitive answer on how to do these actions? I've started two careers in the Asiatic fleet with an S-Class, and I can't even complete the first mission in either because they gave me an agent insertion mission and a supply drop mission. I've gotten to the waypoint, but I either run up and down the coast at 1/3, occasionally stopping, waiting for something to happen, or I hang off coast submerged and move in at night, but nothing happens. Random air attacks while trying to drop supplies on Luzon doesn't make things easy either.

Is there an unlisted key command or do I have to wait for something or get close enough to the target star or wait until nightfall and surface or...?

PS, hope cows are on the way in a future patch... running from PH to Honshu or Tokyo Bay without any refueling options is a b*#ch.

I just get real close to the star and it asks me if i want to launch the poat. Also stop and refuel at midway and run at 2/3 speed.

I dropped some troops off by approaching to within 1nm of the coast.

I think I've figured it out. It doesn't give you the option to deploy or pick up anything until you surface at the destination. Discovered this when I had to drop some troops off in the Philippines - I made it to my destination at around 00:30, but I was already surfaced. I waited around, nothing.... Then just for ****s and giggles, I thought, "What happens if I submerge and then surface?" Sure enough, as soon as my deck watch was on duty, a box came up. A little pedantic maybe, but I think this operation of the game was designed with the thought that subs would stay submerged as long as possible and surface only long enough to deploy/pick up at the destination, then submerge again. Moral of the story - stay under until you've reached the destination, then pop up and you should be able to complete your mission by sending out rafts, picking up pilots, etc.
