Default Damned weather!

Get this... I sink 2x C2s a C3 and a T3 in a single convoy north of Scotland in S--t-can weather.

Man did I roll these guys!

I put my last two topedoes into the side of a stalled T3... she lists like crazy but refuses to go down.

The wind is raging, the waves are crashing. The escorts are furiously trying to find my boat and the survivors are hauling ass for shore. The escorts eventually give up.

I'm out of torpedoes... all I need are like two rounds from my deckgun but the damned weather will NOT change. I submerge and wait only coming up for air for around 2 days. WHAT THE HELL CHANGES THE WEATHER IN SHIII?!!!!!!!! What do I have to do?! I know that if I disengage from the target he'll disappear. ARGH!!!

Sure enough I go about 100 kms north, the ocean changes to glass, I race back and he's gone.

Man! I could have USED that tanker!!! GRRRRRRRRRR!!!! Tell me that the new dynamic weather in SHIV will take care of this.

I feel your pain.

(using GWX w/ SH3 Commander)

I received one of those U-Boat convoy reports and made toward it at flank speed as best i could in the rough waters. When i got there i saw a large convoy being escorted by 6 flaming black swans!!! no subs anywhere in sight. i can guess their fates.

So one of the back swans turns and heads straight for me, but he is aflame from bow to stern and only turning out a few knots. I fire one fish at him and he sinks fast. this of course sets the rest of those black swans after me.

another black swan appeard to be undamaged was moving toward me at flank speed about 3,000 meters away... took a shot at him... direct hit. the others were approaching and now zig zagging and pinging so i get the heck out of dodge.

i come back for the cargo ships a few hours later and there are now 4 black swans escorting the convoy. one of them proves to be an irresistable target and i take him out in one hit. same situation as earlier the others speed to his aide and i get one as he approaches and i turn tail and run... now down to 2 black swans!

i come back that night and repeat the same attack - finishing off the black swans is a relief but now im down to my external stores. with 4 bow shots and 1 stern shot ready to go. i get into the now unescorted convoy. since im on limited torpedos i decide to go for the cargo ships that appear to be damaged (on fire) from the other now dead U-boats from way earlier. I put one fish into the side of a pyro ammo ship, i put another fish into the side of a second pyro ammo ship, i put one shot into a large tanker, and another shot into a pyro ammo ship, i fire my stern shot at a large cargo ship behind me. all hit... all but one detonate.

i wait...

i wait... finally one of the pyro ships goes down without a show it just sinks no explosions or anything. i need to press an attack with the deck gun, but i cant because of the rough seas.

i follow these jerks for 5 days from the north of spain to darn near the mouth of Gibralter and finally my fuel was getting low and my patience was running thin... without a single change in the weather in a week i head back to lorient having never been able to fire the deck gun for count of the heavy swells

none of the damaged ships went down, final tally 6 black swans and a pyro

You could do what most captains did and just lie about it. "Oh oh yea I sure got them Admiral... uh didn't I Mueller?"

*Mueller gets a panicked look in his eye*

But the good news is that you destroyed that convoy's escorts so that means that the other u-boats around it could swarm in and get the tonnage!

Sometimes make-believe is the only thing thats keeping your sanity.

No... he followed them all the way to Gibraltar, so he knows that they made it to safety

Agreed, the weather can be frustrating. Specialy when the whole world behaves the same (crazy storms even inside the mediterraneum sea).

I hate it too when I can't use the deck gun due to bad weather. That's why whenever the weather is good, I always try to sink ships using the deck gun.
