Yes british and commonwealth convoys had many flares of different
sorts most notably I suppose for the merchies would be snowflake a rocket flare the indicated they had been torpedo'd this is a fairly big ommision to the ambience and feel of SH3. |

Not only did they shoot up flares, they shot them, and responded to sub attacks in predetermined patterns. Kind of like how an american football quaterback calls out the plays.
