Installing GWX
First of all, I'd like to say thanks to those who responded to my first post (St. Nazaire Press Gangs). As it turns out, the problem appears to be a corrupted save game.
Since I have to start my career over, I'm going to install the GWX mod I hear everyone raving about. As of this post, I almost have the main files downloaded (5.bin is just finishing up). In the course of my lurking here and reading the various posts, it seems there's quite a bit to GWX so I have a couple of questions... Is 1.02 the latest version or will I need to patch it? Is this the complete and full download or are there additional add-ons and/or bonus packs I should grab as well? Are there additional mods anyone would recommend to accompany GWX? Are there compatibility issues I should be aware of (either with SH3, 1.4b patch, SH3Commander, or any other mods)? Lastly, what about hardware? With all the eyecandy I'm hearing about, am I going to run into problems with my fossilized Fx5600 graphics card? Thanks |

Hi again
Hows Capt Pugwash :rotfl: Ok you will need all 5 bins and the installer in one folder and the 1.02 patch First off is your SH3 install a fresh new one ? Recommend a fresh install of SH3 patched to 1.4b Install GWX through the installer Install GWX 1.02 I thoroughly recommend SH3Commander 2.7 If using commander you will need the GWX specific cfg for 1.02 - under my sig ![]() If you are going to use SH3Commander I recommend you get the GWX skin pack by Ichy\Boris and Fubar - The skins on ships change year by year - esp the warships which use historical paint schemes 1.03 is not far off going to the testers Any questions\problems ask away |

Hi and welcome to Subsim.
![]() Most of your question can be answered by leafing through the manual. http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/GWX...NUAL_EN_PF.pdf

Thanks for replying.
Given that I had some issues previously that I tracked to a messed up savegame, I've done a complete reinstall just to be sure I didn't break something else in my experimentation. Currently, I have SH3, 1.4b, SH3Commander 2.7 (I think...whatever the latest one is), Sergbuto's Additional Ships, Torpedo Transparency, and a Bearing Overlay (don't recall who created it or even where I got it). I have the U-Boat: Mediterranean pack, but it's not installed (still sealed, actually) as I wasn't sure of compatibility issues with GWX and I heard it sucked. The 5th BIN file just finished downloading now, so I'm almost ready to install. I have GWX102.exe as well. Is the the patch or the installer for the BIN files? I'll go back and look just in case I'm missing something. The manual is queued for download, but hasn't finished yet so I haven't read it. I'm pulling down the skin packs right now, so bandwidth is a little scarce until at least one of them finishes. |

No the 1.02 is just one file
You can read the manual online too ![]() Are those mods you have enabled through JSGME ? If so you will need to remove them Initial GWX install will delete your sea folder so the ships will go but the cfgs will be left behind which may cause problems so if they can come out using JSGME so much the better |

I haven't installed anything through JSGME. I don't even have JSGME, itself, installed. For all the time it takes, I'll remove and reinstall SH3 and patch up again so I can start with a clean install just to prevent possible problems.

"Seaman Stains"
I have nothing to add, bigboywooly knows his stuff, I just wanted to say Welcome, and that you came up with a great name, I almost fell out of my chair! Of course, after a few hours of playing this game (and a few drinks), me falling out of this chair isnt entirely unheard of!

For total "safety" though, you may like to install it last. |
