Default Visibility 20 Km!

From the UBI main page interview with Christian Hrisc -excuse if you already knew this-: "you have a radius of visibility of 20 km "

Finally a realistic visibility radius, and not the original 8 km in SH3! That will sure add a lot to the game experience.

Thats good! The "mysterious blue fog that sort of looks like the sky but isn't" will be less obvious now.

That is good news - but will it cut both ways??

IOW, will the escorts pick up your sub at 20KM? Wasn't this kind of thing always a problem w/ SHIII - you see them and they see you - even though you are tiny (and low in the water) and they are huge (and high) by comparison?

That could be a problem but only time will tell :p

This will make the game look even more stunning and add to attacks on the enemy. It will be breath taking seeing a convoy around 15km away with that distance blur effect on

That whimpering sound you now hear is the cries of fifty thousand PC's realising what a humbling experience its going to be for them...

If the game is anywhere near reality, the sub should see smoke long
before it sees any ships.....

Exactly, the SH3 engine didn't allow for AI spotting of smoke, only when the ship itself came into view. Would be nice to see that change.
