Yep, I bought this. I played it for about five hours in total and then uninstalled it. Complete waste of cash.
There's nothing "sim" about this game at all. It is obviously ported straight over from a console with the kind of arcade style action you'd expect. The game ran very smoothly on my mid-range system but the graphics aren't anything special. The models are very simple and the textures have a kind of cartoonish quality to them. The sky, clouds and lighting look absolutely amazing though. Sounds are God awful. I guess it would be OK if you're into this kind of game but I like to be sucked into my games and feel as though I'm apart of the game world. This game kept slapping me out of that immersion zone. It has the worst story EVER. The characters are completely unbelievable and the main guy is some kind puritan war monger. Good animation though. The campaign is very short and as every mission plays the same way every time there is no point trying it again. Multiplayer was an absolute gong show. It's nice having sailors walk around on the deck of the ships but not nice when they fail to act any differently during battle. I stopped giving a crap about them when I noticed they casually stroll through raging fires on your damaged vessel. Don't even get me started on the submarine combat. If you don't mind arcade action games then you may like it. However it's probably best played on a console where you can mindlessly lay back on the couch and forget about the brain cells you lose with every broadside fired. Five thumbs down ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ________ Web shows Last edited by IRONxMortlock; 08-14-11 at 02:54 PM. |

It had horrible ratings in every PC game magazine I've read.
Pass on this one. Tool.
