Default Game Hosting

Whenever I try to host a game it appears that my ping does not register, although I have disconnection my firewall and I have a green zero showing on my screen in the game. Anyone any ideas why I cannot host a game?

:hmm:
the green 0 , you mean ping?

if thats so then its O.K

if you direct host a game, your ping is 0 or very low.
the other who join will receive a ping depending on the distance and connection speed they have. the closer they are and better connection the lower their ping will be.

but 0 means that you are the HOST and that you do not have any delay.
but from outside the server if a friend of yours see NO PING (example ping: --- )at all then something is blocking the connection (mostly if you have the firewall enabled or did not open the correct ports in the router)

btw: which game are you hosting with?

Thanks for your reply and yes I understood about the green zero which I see. I have disconnected my zone alarm firewall, but as I mentioned, no one seems able to join as they are told I am behind a firewall! Have tried numerous time to open a hosting game using UBI server all to no avail.

hmm I would completely uninstall ZoneAlarm, restart, and then try it. I put my bets on ZA even tho u say its disconnected.

Try without no firewall installed make sure windowsxp firewall is disabled as it will enable itself once ZA is uninstall.

Before I do as you suggest, can you let me know what game port UBI.COM uses, want to make 100% sure that I am connecting to the correct game port?
