Who has this texture problem & who doesn't

Hi, I put a thread in SHIV forum (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=106386) as to whether this texture fault in SH3 would be fixed in SH4:

However it seems that only some people have this problem I would like to track this down as to WHY! Is it a game texture problem, or 3D card, or even processor?
I have had this problem with all versions of SH3.
I am running:
1) ATI X700 256m AGP (however I had the same problem with 9800 Pro)
2) Catalyst Version 05.6 (don't like .NET for ccc)
3) AMD Athlon 64 3700+
4) Asus A8V Deluxe with VIA Chipset.
5) 1 gig ram.
Could those who do, or do not, have this problem please post your findings, many thanks.

I sometimes have that sort of problem too, except the wake goes from the bow then stops when it passes the conning tower.

I get this problem too. If I remember correctly it is present when first going to that view but dissapears when the wake lengthens out. The wake starts off very short behind the boat then lengthens out when moving slow on the surface.
My specs:

Athalon 64, FS-60 dual core, 2.61gb
Nvidia Geforce 7900 GTO, PCI express, 256mb
Nvidia drver version 8.4.2.1
Asus A8N32 SLI Deluxe M.B.
2 gb memory

Well it looks like the video card is not the problem.

Using longer wakes and going over 24 knots I occasionally get a similar
effect where the wake becomes pencil thin like a periscope wake almost
and then it follows the sub like a searchlight beam.

I didnt report it on longer wakes thread as I figured it to be an Uberboot
error not an sh3 or a longer wakes error.

The common denominator so far seems to be AMD Athlon CPU

Thought you were talking about a wakes problem ?

Reece is on about the sea being rendered in small squares next to the boat as in the pic
