Default GWX ship identity

When I upgraded to GWX I lost the coloring / identify friend/neutral/foe of ships. They used to be blue / green / red.

Was this a bug, a feature, or did I do something wrong. All the ship icons are gray, even though I did not disable the Weapons Officer functions in the difficulty section.

Yes, the contact colour in GWX is disabled. If oyu want it back on, use this mod...be sure to enable it via JSGME...

If you're willing to upgrade to GWX to increase realism, then go all the way and leave the contacts as-is...

From page 25 of the supplied GWX 1.0 Manual (page 28 in the current 1.02 manual):

Quote:
Grey ship icons

GWX uses the grey ship icons to force you to identify with absolute certainty whether your target is hostile, neutral, or friendly – or take the consequences of incorrect identification. Use your F1 help screen and the recognition manual to determine whether the ship you see represents a step on the road to medals and promotion; a stain of dishonor; or a court-martial. GWX has increased the magnifying power of your periscope to 10X to compensate for the fact that your Silent Hunter III periscope optics are not as good they were in real life.

I STRONGLY recommend perusing through the supplied manual - it's there to help you.

Hi,

(This is my first post here after lurking a few days. I just got SH3 in the bargain bin and have done 3 patrols with GWX and Commander mods. I bow three times towards the GWX crew for their absoultely amazing work).

Regarding Grey ships, and the quote in the rule book further up:

Except for the fact that the icons on the nav map are all grey, I do not see any difference with SH3 unmodded. I never have to use the ship recognition manual, as the identity of the ship is always known. While I don't feel up to manual targeting, I do love the idea of not knowing what type of ship is "up there" and once a visual is established I would like to have to try and do the work of identifying myself.

Is there something I have not (de)activated in the configuration?
