Default S-class in convoy

Hey

Yesterday I attacked a convoy a long way west of spain heading north. I was awaiting the convoy when suddenly I detected a sub-like sound on the sonar...I had sent a contact report earlier and I though it might be another kraut sub

Then I allocated an S-class going submerged after a Large merchant (which blew up by 1 torp btw ) with its periscope up. He was going behind the large merchant just as if he was a freighter. Anyone seen this before?

I didn't even think AI subs were actually able to submerge

There are numerous subs scripted into the game (GWX) ...some surfaced and some submerged

I've sunk an S-Class outside Lorient with two torpedoes the other day. I spot him on the surface on a clear day and I fired two torpedoes from 4km away. He blew up like the 4th of July

How do you attack the S class with torps? It's not in the recognition manual is it? how to determine range and stuff? or was it just pure luck?

First of all I am not using automatic targeting, but it was not so difficult. You just have to aim, set the torpedoes to 1m running depth (just to ensure a hit) impact pistol (to avoid premature detonations) and just calculate the solution and fire. Are you sure it's not in the recognition manual? I don't remember that but if it isn't someone will put it in.

I've got GWX 1.02 and went on my 1st patrol with a new career. Late 1940, Type VIIC U-Boat, about a 200 km W of St. Nazaire (BF55 I think) I encountered/sunk a S-Class subermarine. My first sub kill. It was at night and my watch crew spotted em first. We closed and submerged to peri depth. All it took was 1 torp. My first reaction was "what-the-hell" which turned to "I'm not going to let him get away".

Well I went to the sub base in Lerwick just to bag one myself....

Found it inside the harbor docked. It was not an easy shot but 3m with magnetic p did the job for me...:rotfl:

Last week I found an S-Class on the surface about 150kms sw of Lorient. Here is a thread with some screens:

It also shows Seth doing a Crazy Ivan with one

Guys,
Last time i checked, there was no s-class in the recognition manual. I wonder if the ommision is on purpose due to historical accuracy?

More likely due to the fact subs dont show in the rec manual
Only units in the Sea folder show
IIRC that is
And am not sure I do these days
