Default Sound problems

Sorry I did a search and couldn't find anything that matched my sound issues.

First this game worked fine using the 1.4 patch, GWX mod, etc. Then I decided to update antivirus software a few days ago and the problems began. However the only issues remaining are the strange sounds, not of anything in particular, just numerous sounds all playing at the same time, in no real pattern. I have done atleast two uninstalls removing according to instructions and defragged the harddrive, and it still is there. Any suggestions short of buying a new disk?? I also have disabled the antivirus during install and during play but that didn't change anything.

Hello there Jet,

If you could would you please put in your system specs. Also, is it only in SH3 that you have these sound issues? What exactly are they too? When do they appear? What type of AV program are you using.
Once is see some of this info, I may be able to help you more in troubleshooting your sound issues...

Is it on-board sound or dedicated sound card?

Again sytem specs would help.

Don't assume that there is a problem with your installation of SH3, more likely it's a problem with sound drives/hardware acceleration.

Turn off hardware acceleration first. If this doesn't fix it

Its a dedicated soundcard the Creative SBX-Fi card. Like I said this program used to work before, sound included, now it doesn't. What other specs do you need? Intel Core-duo 6700, 2 gigs of RAM, Radeon X1950 Crossfire video etc?

Wierd I reinstalled sound card drivers, there were new ones anyway. Then went on to reinstalling SHIII the patch 1.04. GWX, then the GWX 1.02 patch. And started the game up. It worked for a time. Then I went back out and installed the SH commander program 2.7 I believe and this caused strange sound problems again.

So I uninstalled everything and reinstalled everything again except SHCommander and the sound works as it should. Any suggestions?

I'd say that you didnt patch SH3cmmdr with the GWXCfg4SH3Cmdr.zip file....but...same thing here....Notably, the deck gun sounds muffled, the flack gun doesnt make a sound while firing and some sound effects are ommited...

Will check again this time without installing CH3cmmdr and report...
