Default Recognition Manual Confusion - What's Included in Which Package?

I noticed that today's announcement of the super-duper deluxe collector's edition states that it includes a "116-page Deluxe Version of the Recognition Manual, containing twenty more pages than the Collector's Edition manual." It goes on to say that it includes details on all 48 Japanese vessels and all 40 US vessels.

Yet when I review the list of included goodies listed on the US SH4 website, it only refers to a "fold out ship recognition poster" - there is no mention of a dedicated recognition manual. So does this list of "premium bonus material" only refer to the standard edition of SH4? Does this imply that there's still a US Collector's edition that has not been advertised yet that might include a recognition book? What am I missing here? What do you guys think?

(Not that it is that big a deal; I have reprints of the actual ONI-208-J and ONI-222-J recognition manuals from history-on-cdrom.com that I could always use).

My understanding:

All standard copies of SH4 will initilally have extra goodies. This will be for a limited time after which some or all of the "extra" goodies will no longer be included. I suspect after this period you'll receive the game, manual and fold-out reference card (maybe more). Nobody at this stage seems clear on this (including Ubi). This copy of SH4 is available from Ubi and all other retailers. It will include the following:

- Premium Packaging
- 100+ page manual including reference material
- Fold-out historical map of the Pacific theater
- Fold out ship recognition poster
- Quick Reference Card
- 1-hour of WWII-era documentary footage about U.S. submarines from Periscope Films on a Bonus DVD

Again, the above will be every copy pf SH4 for a limited time (incl. pre-orders from Subsim at Amazon). Note: This IS NOT a limited edition. All initial copies get this.

------

The SH4 DE (Deluxe Edition) is a limited run of 3000 copies worldwide. This copy is available only through Ubisoft's store (looks like the UK store only).

The Deluxe Edition includes:

- Metal box
- 116 page deluxe version of the recognition manual
- 145 page notebook with leather-style cover with a metal pen with game logo
- An exclusive 60-min DVD documentary
- The original soundtrack of the game CD
- SH4 medal in presentation tin
- An exclusive mouse pad
- 6 artwork postcards
- arm patch
- A numbered certificate of authenticity

------

The Collectors Edition of SH4 appears that it will be available from all retailers too, but content shall vary a little regionally. I don't believe this is available to US and Canada customers (they get the version listed at the top of my post). I'm pretty sure this is for any countries outside the aforementioned two.

All in all, clear as mud.

I too have been looking for clarification.
The spiral bound ship recognition book looks attractive to me.
I would like to order this edition if possible, but all I have is US $ and not sure if it would be shipped overseas.

I think Bernard is in charge of marketing.

In all the confusion, I hope they remember to include the game! Unless there's now a Limited Edition MG (Missing Game) edition.

Ubi will quite happily ship the Deluxe Edition overseas. With respect to currency, the price is in GBP, but your bank converts that for you.

Thanks Flintlock. I wasn't sure about them shipping to this side of the pond.
But, I did a currency conversion. The UK site has it at 49.99 pounds which is the same as $97.47 US. Ouch then plus shipping. A bit too rich for me.

If you ordered from EB, you'll be getting the standard edition (which initially comes with the extra stuff).

You should be receiving the following:

- Premium Packaging
- 100+ page manual including reference material
- Fold-out historical map of the Pacific theater
- Fold out ship recognition poster
- Quick Reference Card
- 1-hour of WWII-era documentary footage about U.S. submarines from Periscope Films on a Bonus DVD

Cheers,

Yeah, it stings a little. The shipping is £25.00 (though there's VAT included in there), so your net is £74.99 wich is roughly $ 146.42 USD.

The Deluxe Edition is definitely a nice package, but not inexpensive since those in the US and Canada must order from Ubi's UK store. I think it would've been a little more viable for some had Ubi offered it from their US store. C'est la vie.

Since they're only selling a total of 3000 copies worldwide, I'm curious to see if these sell out, and when.
