I'm thinking about changing some .tga files to get more FPS...
So far I have found two for clouds: Nori00.tga Nori01.tga One for waves: Peak.tga Two for smoke: smoke_volum.tga smoke_volum2.tga Can anyone come up with more .tga files that might have a major impact on FPS? |

It depends of the textures size.
if you put lower quality or smaller textures in stock perhaps is possible reduce memory and graphic load, but you loose visual quality. the reverse operation can do the opposite effect, more graphic load and memory needed. but a lot of eye candy

There are also alot of FPS settings in files that you could lower.
One example is the mine. (Not that you should EVER see one!) But it is set at FPS 12 I think. Now if your in a mine field and there are 10 mines? |

Hartmann that's my idea exactly, rather a smooth ride in harbours with lower quality than a micro stuttering ride in harbours with high quality!
Privateer can you please tell me which files I can look into? I'm sure there's more people with these problems after using the 16km visibility mod for example... I'm thinking about changing the quality of harbour textures, the grey dock texture for example, anyone knows which .tga file? |

Changed alot of .tga files to 16Bit instead of 32Bit but that didn't help, still 9-10FPS in harbours, would need at least 13-14FPS!

What you can do with the textures is physically reduce thier size.
For example GW1.1a had u-boat textures that were 2048 x 2048. Gwx has 1024 x 1024. You could always try resizing other textures and then repacking the dat file.
