Hi everyone. I have been away from these wonderful SH3 forums for a few months now. I do still sometimes fire up SH3 and go for a nice patrol in my trusty VIIC.I have a decent hardware setup and can run SH3 in all its glory at 1280x1024 (modded resolution) with everything at max and 4xAA + 16AF. It runs great without lag despite over 50 mods loaded in game, half of which are graphics mod and great sub skins by no other then Fubar and many other amazingly talented community members here.I really love this game as you all do. I have recently read a preview of SH4 at Gamespot. A hands-on-preview with some latest pics of SH4. I am personally fonder of the Atlantic Theatre and the U-Boats action. So I am not sure if I will really put as much time in SH4 as I have in SH3. Also SH3 has come a long way due to the wonderful modding community. I am sure the Vanilla SH4 will be more advanced/feature rich then Vanilla SH3, but it will take years of modding for SH4 to get it to the same mature level as SH3 unless SDKs are release which may expedite the process. Anyhow, my point being that as I see myself playing SH3 for a very long time, maybe at least 3 more years minimum before SH4 reaches the same mature level after release (who knows how much SH3 would have grown further by then). So I was wondering if it is somehow possible for the talented modding community to add to SH3 graphics features such as post-processing, HDR and enhanced transparency effects etc., as said to be used in SH4 (pray tell if there are already such mods for SH3). For if it is possible to give a general face-lift to SH3 (in addition to texture packs and better skins) with these new features, I think SH3 can stay as an up to date product (graphically) alongside SH4 for much longer then 3 years, and not be left behind like the great old simulations of 'Wing Commander' series when more and more photo realistic games come out in the future. Moreover, it will be great if this wonderful game can be updated somehow to take some advantage of the latest upcoming hardware. But I feel for all that UBISOFT may need to release the source code to the community, like the great old game (one of my favourite ever), Freespace 2 (not by UBISOFT of course, but by a company which was wound up but preferred to release the game's source code to the public at the time).

Sounds like you need to DL GWX, the premier mod for SH3 around at the moment. It doesn't get stuck into the source code, unfortunatley that still has not been released but it mods just about everything possible in the game and really gives the game a new lease on life.
