Default First destroyer!

Haha, finally got one..

I am not playing DID, but wanna survive as long as possible. Before, thus untill now I get away from them as the plaque.. they are not worth an eel.. just 1250 tons, is nothing.
But, normally I fire at the merchant, and then dive as mad and try to get away.. what always succeeded.
Now, in the Med, I had a very persistant Brit who wouldnt gave up, it was a Black Swan (who on earth comes up with this) and a big merchant.. sunk it.

Well, eventually I got sick of it after an hour, he came closer and closer, I ordered zero tieffe, and fired a torp, while he was about 300 meters away.. BAM! gone is that hot potato!
I dont think I do it again.. wanna keep the crew save and thru the war.

if you really like to fight with destroyers
fine one, submerge and go to flank speed for a few seconds/minutes (juse enough for him to pin point your location then you wait for him to get within 500 meters
then ready up a magnetic torpedo set for 5 meters and fire

i know, its dumb but you get a reakl thrill out of it:rotfl:

Wrong, We do NOT like that.. it was just a hopeless effort to get rid of them.
Only do that when you cant shake them off.

some might not, but i bet that there are some who enjoy the thrill of a destroyer closing in fast at you and in the last possible moment you fire a torpedo and the destoryer goes up into flames

You're taking a real chance by gambling on that torpedo not being a dud...
The ocean feasts on thrill seekers.

Personally, I like to blow ballast and surface 10 feet from them and take them down with my trusty Ruger. One shot between the eyes.

I'm in December 1943 atm ... I just attacked a convoy with like 50 escorts Well, actually more like 6, but I sneak out the back and find myself with three of the buggers hunting me and no matter how deep I am I can't shake them, I'm at about 250m in an undamaged IXD2 ... so far been able to avoid their depth charges but I'm at flank speed most of the time trying to sneak past the constant explosions, seems unlikely I'll be able to conceal myself

Is there any chance at all of getting out of that situation? I mean, will they end up giving up after a few hours or once the convoy gets too far ahead? Will they run out of depth charges? I have a falke in a stern tube, could I kind of get nearer to the surface and just fire it off with no solution of anything? I've still never actually used one of them, at what depth can I fire it?

Ok, well.
1. Rig for silent running.
2. Set silent speed. (2 kts)
3. Set 5-10 degrees either rudder.
4. Release a Bold.
5. Keep changing depth/heading often, you'll shed them.

If you need to fire a falke, thats fine, you don't need a solution, but you need to fire in the vacinity (+-10 degrees maybe?). Max torpedo depth for a IXD2 is 20m.

Yeah I'm in silent running, all that, except it's raining depth charges and they're detecting me at 2knts no problem, I'd rather avoid the ashcans being at like 250m. Even if they have a strong fix on you will they just give up trying to nail you after a while? I heard they usually give up if they don't detect anything for 30mins but this is relentless so far and this is my first time with late war destroyers as well

That might be fine early on in the war ...you'll soon find they zig zag as they approach you making it nigh on impossible to predict their final approach location...and there you are at PD :hmm: ....have a nice day...I'm sure the DD will

This is how I like to see destroyers...

Not my first, probably not the last.
