Default Only one Diesel engine working.

While admiring my boat from under water (surfaced) I noticed thet my port propeller was the only one working. Is this a glitch or a problem. I could only get 10 knots.

Odds are you're using the other diesel engine to recharge the batteries... it's done in the background, automatically, until the batteries are recharged.

If you're needing the extra speed more than you need to recharge the batteries, you can order the engineer to use both diesel engines to travel... I just can't remember exactly how ;o).

If you resurfaced it's because your batteries are recharging. Once fully charged both screws will turn. They shaft for the non turning screw is driving the generator for the batteries I believe.

click on the engineer (leftmost officer) -> propultion then select "normal" or "recharge" mode to enable or disable charging of the batteries. Quite useful when you absolutely must have full speed, and you'll recharge later

Seeing this question again (probably for the nth time) made me actually look at the newby guide. Man, somewhere in there it should have explicit directions on how to search these forums. And I'm not saying that in a mean way at all, but the search feature of these forums is one of the most powerful tools you'll find for answering your questions about SH3.

That said, this is a great community in which people are willing to answer everyones questions with respect--and that's just about as cool as it comes .

Cheers,

J
