When I installed this mod i could no longer see the spot of frienly ans enemy ships on my map. Is this any known bug that can be fixed?

That's intentional. Somewhere there is an "unmod" that reverses this affect, while preserving other features of the mod. It's from the same fellow who wrote the Improved Convoys mod.

Yes, this was done on purpose to make it more realistic. If you move the mouse around the map you will see circles. Clicking on one will show it to be "Unknown". If you lock on to a target with the periscope or UZO and the information is in the notebook, and click on that circle on the map it will now tell what it is. That way you can only identify one target at a time instead of knowing what every ship out there is doing.
The mod Heffalump is talking about is "Unreal U-Boat". Go to this site: http://u-boot.realsimulation.com/ Click on 'Content', 'Download Central'. 'SH3 Downloads'. 'SH3 Mods (General Section)'. On page 8 you will find 'UnRealUboat1.43.7z'. It's a 7zip file, so you'll need that program to unzip and install it.
