hello!
ye well what can i say about GWX what hast already been said. its just great. brought me back to the game, after i stoped playing it long time ago. so many that are very well done, and that without a sdk. congrats im playing "realistic", as far as one can say that about a computergame, without being too nerdy. im trying to not to challange the game intentionaly for unrealistic results, by doing stupid things. playing carefully etc, so no charges at dd's in mid 41 or something. manual targeting, mapupdates allowed plus externals for the eyecandy not for cheating. so far im getting loads of great realistic results, patrolwise, but also careerwise. very well done. im on my 5th career now, where i went back to the cheesy times of june 1941, as a startoff point. my boat enjoyes good success, but no gamey kill stats every patrol. something especialy great happened on my recent, 5th patrol tho, where i lurked outside gibraltar, and went for a convoy that was located by another uboat. sea was flat and visibility was good, so i did a nighttime submerged attack, and managed to put two eels into one of those meaty whalefish factory ships, that bugger wouldnt want to sink. damn. after evading dd's, i closed in again, but noticed that the spot where i attacked that factory ship, was empty. he probably fell behind the convoy, so i changed course and looked for him. there he was. low in the water, and slow. i planned to beg him fast, and catch up with the convoy again, before it reaches the gibraltar airspace. but what the hell was that?!?! explosions on MY norwegian whale factory ship! i couldnt belive what i was seing. another uboat rakes MMMYYY big a** 10000brt target with gunfire, and actualy sinks it, before i could get into a firing pos. i guess that will be alot of free beer for my crew on the next paris leave, sposored by the lads in that boat right there. whatever. this is actualy very very realistic. ships being topedoed by one boat, and being sunk by another, after falling behind the convoy, was a common thing to happen. the lack of stragglers and rompers from convoys, is one of those things missing from the sh3 campaign engine. this is why this instance felt so immersive to me. very well done. i cought up with the convoy next moring, and got attacked by a hudson while on approach. ah well scratch tis one. i disengaged without a sinking. again very realistic. regards from oblt heydenreich and the crew of U207
