Default Odd IXB Behaviour....

Hi all,

Having a problem with the IXB - mainly with the speed.....

I've tried several different single missions at different years, but still get the same result - here's the problem -

Regardless of weather or year, etc. if I select the IXB and order Ahead Flank on the speed telegraph it will drop down to Ahead Slow by itself and crawl along at 4-5 knots.

But, if I click the button next to the telegraph and manually drag the speed dial to say, 15 knots it will do it no problem.....anyone have any idea why this happens?

The most it will accept on the telegraph is Ahead Full.

As I said I've tried in calm seas, rough sea, heavy winds, no wind, different years etc. but the same result occurs - but only with the IXB....I've tried it with other subs, the last being the VIIC - and it worked fine.

I'm currently running SH3 1.4b, GWX, GWX 23rd Dec Updates, SH3 Commander 2.7, various smoke and sound mods (including the DC shake mod) - I recently added Mav's slideout TDC etc. but have since removed it incase that was the cause (it being the last mod added), but no, it's still the same.

Any ideas?

Cheers all!

Malfunction or Sabotage caused by SH3Cmdr. BTW they are randomised so it's hard to reproduce the effects in other boats/years etc.

This was an excellent addition to the game.

At the risk of putting my foot in the proverbial.....RTFM
(I really hope there is info about the malfunctions/sabotage in there)

Hi,

I appreciate it could be SH3 Commander - but for half the tests I didn't launch SH3 using it......so there was no point in Reading TFM....

I did several tests with it, and several without - and yet the same result occurs. I've rebooted the PC between some tests too and started with the same captain, then different captains - but again, the same.

The settings applied via SH3Cmdr will stay 'activated' until a 'Rollback' is performed regardless of whether you start via the SH3 Icon or Cmdr's Icon.

You might wanna do a reinstall of GWX. That usually fixes any problems.

OT: BTW: The word "Odd" is actually a male name here in Norway. So is "Anders", something the German members here will understand...:rotfl:

:hmm:

Having lived in Holland in past years I am conversant with some of the 'odditties' around Dutch names....so pray tell/explain some Norwegian/German meanings

Hi, I do recall clicking 'Rollback' in SH3 Commander before I rebooted a couple of times. It just seems such a huge coincidence that the same malfunction could keep happening to the same sub type, but at differing years.

I'll do some more tests later tonight when I get home - and see if I can solve it.

Cheers!

Not to hijack, but i think there is a lot of people who is actually called "Odd Anders" in Norway. :rotfl:
I dont mean to harass anyone, if they have that name. I just want to point out the meaning of it in other countries.
My first name is Dan, wonder what that means in other languages..:hmm:

I have nothing but GWX and the Sober water mod. I do not have this problem with the IXB. It might be your SH3 Commander

In Polish 'dan' is a specific and a bit 'ancient' word for 'given' (used in that form only in pausal structures), like in male name 'Bogdan' — 'Given by God', 'God's Gift'.
