Default What procedure did.....

.....the real Kaleuns follow when they left harbour.Did they sail straight to their assigned patrol grids ignoring ships or convoys they could have attacked with a deviation off course or were they permitted to attack targets of opportunity?

Since the job was to sink the enemy I'm certain they did just that when the opportunity arose.

Steve is right.
The only exception was the first u-boats to sail to the US coast in operation Drum Beat. They where ordered not to attack any ships less than 30,000*tonnes on the way there in order to keep the attack as a surprise.

*30,000 I think. I may have tonnage minimum wrong, not 100% sure.

OK.Thanks for your answers.I just thought that maybe they had to follow some sort of tactical masterplan and be in their assigned grids in order to keep to it.

I ran in to a convoy today as I was heading to my grid patrol, let me see lot's of targets or a possible boring grid patrol. :hmm: Answer that convoy has now lost two ships.

Yep, if they are within striking range they are there for one purpose only.... for you to sink as many of them as you can.
