Could someone doing manual TDC do a test.

Hi, well still working on manual targeting & going quite well but the stadimeter range is not right - by a long way. Could someone do the following test for me:
set realism "map update" on, get a ship into view within about 2km, use stadimeter to find the range, then goto map & using compass drag from u-boat to the calculated range, is it anywhere near the ship shown on the map?
Certainly on mine it is way out (around 500 meters)
I'm certainly interested in what others find!
Thanks.

Yeah this is more a problem with the map ruler than the stadimeter.

Unfortunately the ruler suffers from some premature rounding.

for example, if the ship is 1500 m away, when you measure 1450m with the ruler, it will change to "1.5", and then once you reach 1550 it will change to "1.6"

So always be aware of this and guestimate a bit when using the ruler.

ahhh, ok.

Well, when I was teaching myself manual targeting I used the academy missions, with manual targetting and map updates ON to check my range calculations in the same way you described.

I found I was accurate enough, it was a good way of learning tho.

Yeh, why mine is out that far I don't know, I have around 80 mods but didn't think any of these should cause this problem, will be interesting to see if others have the same problem. If all else fails I will remove all the mods & try!
Another funny thing is that when viewing through periscope, zoomed in to a ship around 5kms away the ships masts move up and down, (there height changes) sort of like a misty mirage, if you get my drift! this effect might be because the ship is so far away, but certainly makes testing range that far impossable!

Read This

Hi, I uninstalled the mods, and everything is working, so I slowly put everthing back in, checking as I went, until finally all Mods back in, and still fixed - go figure!
Anyway, I did find the graphics glitch of masts growing & shrinking in size, it is the HiRes DX9 mod, also an important find is that the poor/degraded view through UZO or Periscope is caused by the file "Bearing.tga" of the "Bordinstrumente 1.1", simply replace with stock file.
I will place a new thread in mod section to call attention to this.
