Default Convoy Shapes..

I searched via the forum and google.. and couldn't come up with an answer to my question.

Whats the difference between the square convoy and the circled ones? (on the map).

Is it just to give variety?

I think but do not quote me....the circle convoy is a slow 4 kts type convoy. The square are you faster convoys. The reason I said this because I got a message on a slow convoy (4 kts) and it appeared as a circle.

It says "slow" on both the circle and squared convoys... I don't think (could be wrong) that its that.

@Morts; Maybe thats it.

My message clearly stated 4 kts and was a circle coming out of a port in England. Most others that state "slow" are usually 7 kts. Just my experience.

The stock icons are:

Small/Large Square: Merchant/Convoy
Small/(large) Diamond: Warship/TaskForce (or is the TF icon large square too?)
Circle: Submarine
Triangle: Airplane

Definitive - a circled convoy is being shadowed by a wolf pack.

The round ones mean the position report is coming from a uboat
No one said it was German :rotfl:

That would explain why the only circle convoy I have found so far had several ships already on fire when I first encountered them I guess.

I read another thread about this with a pic of the circle convoy. It too had damaged ships already so it probably is as said previously a "simulated" wolfpack sighting.

I bet it was because Bernard switched sides and decided the best way to hide convoys from u-boats was to broadcast their positions on the German frequencies.
