Crash - Fast dive change?
Any way to change the crash/emergency dive value in meters?
Im not sure I agree with the games default value/depth. Im thinking a fast dive should be 20-25 meters. Seeing as how the primary guage is maxed at 25 and I may not want to be bothered with having to adjust it after the order. If I want to more depth how about that's my choice :hmm: Subject to attitude change via depth charges ![]()

Real life normal dive: The boat is flooded slightly negative and takes a while to dive.
Real life crash dive: All tanks are fully flooded except the aft trim tank, which is drained forward to get the nose pointed down. Blowing out the tanks again will make the boat rise, so they have to be pumped back to neutral trim. The whole point is to get the boat as deep as possible as quickly as possible. 70 meters is about right.

Right now I have my boat set to auto dive to perscope depth if a plane shows up. So the boat is already in motion to dive. I then click the depth I want. Sucks but this is the only way I know how to do it.

Oh, you can hit "Crash Dive" and then as soon as the boat starts down set it for whatever depth you want. Some have complained about the "crash dive bug" doing that, but personally I never had any problems.

Someone will have to help me with the actual file name but (IIRC) you can change the default crash depth in the cfg file which also governs the storm conditions for your flak/deck gun. I can't for the life of me remember what it's called atm.
Edit - found the file path - ...\SilentHunterIII\data\Submarine\NSS_Uboatxx\NSS_Uboatxx.cfg You'll need to change the crash depth setting for your current boat. (be safe, in port, SH3Cmdr rollback etc)

You can open the cfg file in your SH3/data/submarine/"your preferred U-Boat type" folder (e.g. with Notepad or Editor) and change the crash depth (it is preset at 70m (stock SH3) respectively 76m (GWX).
Personally I´ve changed it to 160m, the reason is simple: I can always stop a crash dive and order "normal" diving, BUT I cannot get my men to dive FAST once the crash dive is over, which is highly unrealistic and problematic. Try diving deeper at 3 kt: it takes several minutes (!) just to gain some more metres. This is why I alwayws wanted this: I WANT FULL BALLAST TANK AND DIVE PLANE CONTROL!!! Cheers, AS

But crash dive at 160 meters could be a problem in shallow waters.
also some people has the "crash dive blues" problem http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...ash+dive+blues I don´t kwow what was the most used crash dive depth, but i think that 20-30 meters is a good setting.
