Default Convoy radio reports

Last couple missions I've been getting a lot of radio reports saying there's a convoy somewhere, so I head over and nothing there. What's the deal with these radio messages? Bear in mind, I'm still very new to SH3/GWX. Thanks!

Welcome to subsim, SHIII and GWX.

The report shows you where the convoy is at the time that the report was made. In the time that you take to get to the spot it was it has moved. Your best bet is to check out the noob thread and the community wiki which will show you how to work out an intercept.

Basically it depends on the heading and speed of the target. If you can work out where it is going you should be able to get into a position where you will run into them.

I've tried this and have yet to run into them. It's driving me nuts cause all i want is a convoy!

I'll check the noob thread as you suggested adn see if that will help me sort thigns out.

Could be BBW's closer to the mark. You will see Radio Messages about traffic that doesn't exist, but you will also see Contact Reports which are for traffic that is actually in game.

Which are you seeing when you press the M key?

If you're getting the convoy reports with the grid, speed and heading in the dialog box at the bottom of the screen, these are indeed convoys you can go after in game. If you're getting them via "New Radio Message Recieved" and pressing "M" to go to your radio message screen, then those are for atmosphere and flavor and are not actually in the SH3 world (but they were historically there in real life!)

If you're having trouble intercepting ships or convoys when you see them on your F5 nav map, then I'd recommend Dannetoc's intercept course tutorial. It works like a charm. That would be found here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=88961

As a rule any message that is from another uboat or BDU to a specific uboat is a historical message that means nothing only other to make you feel you are not alone

Any messages that are to do with historic missions and ports\bases and for your information and if you close enough you can act on those reports
